The Craft

Derek from fotomendo takes beautiful photographs. A while back we did a project together where I made a board for him and he took a series of pictures he called "craft". Airbrush Day

Derek came over to watch one of the final steps in the journey of his 10'6" noserider that he loving refers to as "the nosepicker". It was airbrush day and as always he got some great pictures which can be found at Derek Magdalik Photography. He has also been writing a series of narratives to accompany the pictures that he has been taking of the building of the nosepicker. There is a line in this last narrative that I hope I can live up to, here it is "A blend of good, old fashioned work ethic, real family values, attention to detail, and supplemented with a sense of humor is, quite simply, Jake’s style" It is an honor to be viewed this way and I hope that I always operate with such a style. Glass-ing

My Buddy Derek from Derek Magdalik Photography came by a little while back and took some amazing photos of me glassing a board, he makes me look good. We are getting together this week to continue shaping his new 10'6" Noserider. These sessions are fun because we are both hard at work in our respective fields, he's behind the lens and I am behind the planer. Maybe this time we should switch tools for a minute or two and see what happens. If we do I will post the results, I am sure they will be entertaining. I can take some amazingly blurry pictures.
