Surf Movie Day

I love surf movies especially when they have something to do with board building. There is a new video out and available for download that fits the bill. Manufacturing stoke is a surf video about the sustainability, or lack there of in the surfboard industry. It features guys like Danny Hess and the Marko Foam Crew. I have been doing some experimenting with Plant based resins and recycled foams as well and am pretty stoked on the results. Manufacturing Stoke is available for download at www.thesurfnetwork.com and will probably at the Lost Surf Shack soon. Check it out. Jake

Thanksgiving Mini Simmons

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I got to get in the shaping bay for a little bit while the little man took a nap and busted out a Mini Simmons inspired 5'1'' quad. It was however the only thing Mini about my thanksgiving, the Macy's parade wasn't mini, my plateful of turkey was not mini and my slice of pie was definitely not mini, it was a good Thanksgiving. Sweet Old Boards

I have been getting a lot of interesting boards for ding repair recently and I thought I would share some of my favorites with everyone. Here are a few of the boards that I have been geeking out on.
Campbell Brothers thruster with some crazy bottom contours

Old and really beat Mark Richards winged twin fin

6' 8" CooperFish

Hull, super foiled with some serious vee

Four channel thruster shaped by Scott Anderson,

This board belonged to a ladies son who died in a motorcycle accident and now she want it fixed up to give to her grandson, Heavy...I felt like Oprah or something

6'2" Twin Fin Lighting Bolt

This winged pin tail seems to be making a come back , I was tripping on how if you took this board, foiled and thinned it out a little it could be a lot of guys go-to board today. What a fun time to be a shaper. Jake

Busy Fall Night

Got a little Van Halen going in the Logo Too

Fresh Apple Butter
While I finish sanded and polished the player this evening my wife was busy in the kitchen canning some apple butter (which I love almost as much as making surfboards). It was a productive autumn evening preparing for the time change an getting ready to hunker down for winter. Tomorrow we are headed down south to meet Christian and deliver "The Player". We might even catch a bit of the contest in Ocean Beach if it is on, but we are definitely going to be picking up some blanks for a few Christmas time boards. If any one has been thinking about wanting a JNS board before Christmas I could pick up the blank on our run south tomorrow, just shoot me an email with your phone number or give me a call at (707) 972-2888 and let me know what you are looking for. Thanks Jake
