NOTION SURFBOARDS

As you know posts have been scarce on here recently. I have been hard at work developing a new surfboard label based in the Outer Banks, NC. Notion surfboards will focus on building boards for the east and west coast using materials that are friendly to our family, friends and the environment. We will continue to use plant based resins, recycled foams, re-purposed wood, and a combination of natural and synthetic cloths to make durable, high performance, non toxic surfboards that work well in a large range of wave conditions. The board pictured below is a concept that I have been developing, using a recycled EPS frame and rails to make a hollow body surfboard with re-purposed wood skins. I am really excited about how this board and the Ecoboards we have been building ride and hold up to abuse. We will continue to build all kinds of custom boards but will focus on building more sustainable surf craft. Eco EPS 6'5" with an Irish Flare

This 6'5" is glassed with Super Saps USDA approved organic Epoxy. We hope to be using a lot of this in the coming year, it's awesome stuff. Recyclable EPS foam, an apple core stringer and a nice durable glass job make this thing light on the environment and sure to last. A little Irish pride makes the board go faster too. Jake

Eco Charger

Here is Marks board all finished and ready to charge. 9'x 21" x 3" makes this a serious board for serious conditions. It is glassed extra strong with recyclable EPS foam and eco groovy Sap Epoxy, so even though it is meant for heavy conditions it is light weight and light on the environment. Jake

Super Sap on Redwood

I glassed this chambered redwood board that a man named Jason built with Entropy Super Sap Epoxy for added organic material. It sure is beautiful. good job Jason. Jake

Avocado Squared

This is Teddy's New Avocado. We changed this one up a bit, it's a little narrower with a more pulled in tail and a chopped nose. It is made with a recyclable EPS foam and Entropy's sustainable epoxy system. Glassed with a 6oz bottom and a 6/4 deck with a three quarter 4oz deck patch but with a weight of only 6.2 pounds means performance that will last.

5'5" x 19 1/4 x 2 1/2 Single concave to deep spiral V and five fin boxes for endless possibilities. Jake

Enviro Mental Sup

I have been working with Entropy Epoxy Resins recently and I am really stoked on them. I met the guys that invented the system and watched them do a few demos at sacred craft last year. The Resins are made using pine tree sap and other bio materials that are waste products from the bio fuel and wood processing industries. I just finished my wife's paddle board and it is made with recyclable foam from Marko Foam and glassed using Entropy's Super Sap resin. We put it in the river the other day and it feels really good, i think we could get the whole family on it. I will be finishing a 5'5" Avocado for Teddy next week built using recyclable foam and Super Sap resin. I will make sure you get to see it when it's done. Jake
