Four Channels, Three Fins, Two Wings, One Swallow

Shaping bay shots. 6'5" x 20 3/4 x 2 3/4 for Kevin. Kevin had a favorite board that he had to sell back in the day but always sorta wanted back. When Kevin saw the board in my shop for some restoration he asked me if I could make something similar, only different. He wanted channels and a little more pulled in tail and a few other tweaks to the outline. Oh and made with EPS foam and epoxy, please. Thats why the custom surfboard is alive a well and will stay that way for a long time. Jake

FATTY FIBERGLASS

There has been lots of work going on at JNS Boards, as many of you know I have taken Fatty Fiberglass over from Leslie Anderson. I am happy to say that I glass like a girl, I have been apprenticing with Leslie for the past couple of years and she has been a great teacher. She moved up north (about as far north as possible in the united states) and is stoked on her new life. I am honored that she would pass her business on to me and excited to continue it in Fatty Tradition. We have moved into her old location out highway 20 which is all set up for production, well almost all set up. I spent the day creating a new shaping bay, my friend Dylan and I moved old surfboards and stacks of wood around for hours until a wall was formed. As you can see from the photo there is foam that needs to be mowed. We will add a little paint and throw up some lights and it will be ready to rock(I thought about leaving the walls red for about five second and then opted against it, red is not the new blue). Finish Sanding

I love every part of the shaping process but there is something special about finish sanding a board and how the foam glistens that makes me smile. Jake

The Bay

The recently remodeled shaping bay in all it's glory. The space is perfect functional and close to the family. It's not quite as clean now as I have shaped a couple of boards in it already. On the back wall are two fishes awaiting shaping.
