5'10" x 20" x 2 5/8 Avocado 4 Julian

Delivered this one to Julian a few evenings ago. Julian has recently been bit by the travel bug, hes a great guy and this board is sure to see some distant shores. Five fin boxes for all his fin tweaking needs on the road. Board looks so fun, when is my Avocado going to be done? Jake

Pugsley

This is another board for Derek of Fotomendo.com. Derek likes to name his own models and he came up with Pugsley for this one. He wanted a board that would float and paddle like his 10'6" but would ride steeper waves and surf like a short board. This board is 6'8" x really wide x really thick, chunky yet refined and confident, The Pugsley, Jake

Eco Charger

Here is Marks board all finished and ready to charge. 9'x 21" x 3" makes this a serious board for serious conditions. It is glassed extra strong with recyclable EPS foam and eco groovy Sap Epoxy, so even though it is meant for heavy conditions it is light weight and light on the environment. Jake

Sharks Like Yellow Surfboards

It's official, sharks prefer yellow surfboards. I have always heard that this is true but now I know for sure. This yellow 9 foot gun is for a guy who everyone calls "shark" and he ordered, you guessed it, a YELLOW surfboard. Let everyone know that it has been scientifically proven that "sharks" like big yellow surfboards. This board will get black pinlines with a gloss and polish finish. Coming large to a point break near you. Jake

Julian Avocado with Paint

Julian is in Santa Cruz for the contest this week. He is excited about his new Avocado and I told him I would post a picture of the board all painted up. I am going to glass it with UV resin so it will be nice and light and ready to ride as soon as the sun hits it. Here you go buddy. Jake

I know every one is aware of the destruction hurricane Sandy caused and there are quite a few groups that have stepped up to help those that are in need. One of the organizations helping is Waves for Water which is run by surfers and helps people in disaster areas get clean water to drink and other essentials. Click on the picture to find out more and see how you can help. Jake

Glassed these two for surfboards by JB last week. Clear, light and strong with a sanded finish. Jake

4 Mike with Stickers

This one is 7'0" x 21" x 3" and it sure looks fun which would make it a funboard. Mike likes stickers so we stickered it all up for him. Single concave to vee through the tail should make it go well on all kinds of north coast waves. Jake

Artsy Fartsy

We have one of those indestructible cameras so sometimes we let our four year old have free reign with it. The results are usually pretty interesting. I found this artsy shop view on the memory card this morning, my son also likes fart jokes thus the post title. Have a great day, Jake

LSS Stock

I dropped this board off at the Lost Surf Shack in Fort Bragg last week. It measures 7'1"x 21 3/8 x 3 and would be perfect for stepping down from a long board but it has the performance to make a great Big Boy short board. Go get it while it's hot. Jake

Glassing Room Inspiration

This picture is hanging in the glassing room, Leslie put it there long ago. Every time I see it I think about how good we have it these days. This guys is charging, no wetsuit, no leash, way out to sea, and he had to climb down a cliff with his board in order to paddle out. This was when you could count the number of surfers around here on one hand, pretty gnarly. The water is still cold, the waves still fickle and the big gray fish are still lurking, but at least we have warm wetsuits, leashes and light weight surfboards designed for our waves. Jake

Fatty Color Factory

We have some serious color in the shop right now thanks to a few from Surfboards by J.B. which are in various stages of glassing. The top two boards are airbrushed by J.B.
This pink nine footer is a full resin tint with pigment done in the lam, it's so bright even with all those other colorful boards in the glassing room, whenever I walked in there my eye was immediately drawn to it. No one will be able to claim that they didn't see J.B. coming. Jake

Redwood Handplane for Matt

My friend Matt had a birthday recently and his girlfriend got him a hand plane, made by me. It was really cool to pick a piece of salvaged redwood out of my colection and make something special for such a good friend. Matt, this hand plane and our friend Sam are all in Peru right now surfing lefts that go for miles. Make sure to stretch before you go out boys. Jake

BBQ Jalapeno Poppers

That's right, jalapenos stuffed with pulled pork BBQ and cream cheese, then fried, epic. I had these for the first time with some good friends in North Carolina on the last trip we took about a month ago. When Nikki cooked up a bunch of BBQ this week I knew I had to try my hand at making my own. They came out pretty good but they weren't quite the same, nothing beats enjoying amazing food with friends you haven't seen in a while, wish you guys were here. Jake
